The three day Induction Programme which meets the Skills For Care Common Induction Standards include:-
- Standard 1 Understand the Principles of Care.
- Standard 2 Understand the organisation and the role of the worker.
- Standard 3 Maintain safety at work.
- Standard 4 Communicate effectively.
- Standard 5 Recognise and respond to abuse and neglect.
- Standard 6 develop as a worker.
The induction training will also cover:-
- Policies and procedures.
- Person centred approach to care.
- Fire Safety.
- Risk Assessment.
- Health and Safety.
- Moving and Handling.
- Infection Control.
- Safe Food Handling.
- Medication Policy.
- Emergency First Aid.
- Introduction to Dementia Care.
Included alongside the above is a period of supervised training where carers shadow a supervisor and vice versa, to assist the novice carer to gain understanding of caring requirements.
